Another in a series of notes I carried back from HP Discover in Vienna.

I had an opportunity to see Bill Veghte, EVP Software for HP, present twice during the first morning of HP Discover: once as part of the kick-off presentation, and then again in a small-group setting. In both presentation, Veghte drew an interesting diagram showing his perspective on software. I've reproduced the sketch included in my notes here:

Veghte's point was that HP's ability to integrate these components gives it a real advantage in dealing with increasingly complex environments. He describes an approach in which requirements data is integrated into performance dashboards, providing clear visibility linking application design with execution and performance. Without this level of integration, Veghte believes, the manual work required to assemble diverse data into a dashboard makes it difficult for senior IT executives (CIO, VP apps) to gain insight across complex systems, especially those that extend into Azure, AWS, or other cloud services.
